I believe Sarah feels like she is doing right by Mrs Jones by attempting to uphold her dignity and maintain her daughters wishes. Although I do not feel that Sarah has treated Mrs Jones with dignity or respect. Sarah has given Mrs Jones a choice of clothes from the wardrobe, Mrs Jones could have been given the choice of all the clothes in her wardrobe, some people may struggle with too many options and this may have been the reason the reason that Sarah has chosen some options for Mrs Jones to chose from. Mrs Jones often forgets to wear her wig but, in this instance, she has not forgotten, she is choosing not to wear it. What she may have forgotten is that it is her grandsons christening, this could have been resolved with a calendar in Mrs Jones room with the upcoming event on there, this could have encouraged her to want to wear her wig and pearls. Once Mrs Jones make up and favourite lipstick has been applied, she smiles in the mirror at her appearance and she later says that she looks fine, Sarah should have been maintaining Mrs Jones self confidence and ensuring that she feels good. Sarah does not listen to Mrs Jones wishes; this is what makes Mrs Jones snap at Sarah. Sarah should be listening to Mrs Jones and respecting her choices whilst also encouraging independence for Mrs Jones. Although it is important to maintain good relations with family members that should not be to the detriment of Mrs Jones mental health or the relationship between carer and patient. Sarah should never have threatened Mrs Jones and told her that she could not go if she would not wear her wig, this is abusive and disrespectful. Sarah could have suggested Mrs Jones wear a hat or she could have taken her wig with them to see if she changed her mind when they got there, she may have been more inclined to wear it if her daughter asked. I am sure her daughter would rather Mrs Jones be there without a wig and feeling comfortable than not to attend at all.
